Charlotte At Berklee

Hello! I'm a singer/songwriter majoring in Songwriting at Berklee College of Music starting Fall 2013. My principal instrument is voice and my secondary instrument is piano. The purpose of this blog is to document memorable moments at Berklee. Feel free to ask me anything about Berklee, whether it be advice or my audition experience, just shoot me a question and I will try to get back to you ASAP :)

This is a moment where we have to admit we prioritized our photography over school security, where we were able to make our way into the card access only library of Berklee to be able to admire the colorful aisles of books holding endless information about history, literacy, and technique of music. It was a very great opportunity to be able to get a glimpse into the life of a musician who is taking the time to invest their life to their work.

160 Mass Ave.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to go on a tour of the 160 Mass Ave. construction site. This 17-story tower will soon become Berklee’s main building. It features dormitories, tons of recording space including a film scoring dubbing stage, ensemble rooms, practice rooms, and an all-new cafeteria twice the size as our old one that also doubles as a performance venue for students.

The best part of the tour was the fact that we got to ride a lift all the way to the roof. Viewing Boston from the top of a 17-story building is breathtaking. And it wasn’t through windows either. We were literally standing on the roof. It was incredible.

Finally worked up enough nerve to go into the #berklee bookstore today lolol the only co-relation i have with berklee is that i helped design their new dormitory on mass ave…

Thank you so much!!! :) Well first of all I discovered Berklee about 3 years ago through a friend and I’m in my senior year now but back then colleges didn’t concern me yet. So I mean I know this sounds crazy but ever since I was 6 I knew I wanted to do something regarding music for the rest of my life. I didn’t know how or where but I just knew it had to be music. I’ve had some doubts along the way and even thought I wanted to do medicine because let’s face it, the music industry can be harsh. But I guess I was kind of just fooling myself because music is what I really love and well if I love something there’s no stopping me. I didn’t really know Berklee was the right place and even now I still have my reservations but you know everyone say it’s the best for the music and whatnot and with my degree (songwriting) it really is the best there so I don’t care about anything honestly apart from the fact that the music is good there cuz that’s what I’m there for. I will have my opinions after I go there this fall but yeah right now I cannot tell you what Berklee life is.
Well Berklee’s programmes are perfect for your needs, they have an MPE major (Music Production & Engineering) where like 85% of the people in that course will be just like you :) I have a post regarding the audition process because someone else also asked me so yeah go check that out and if you have any further questions you can message me or check out the Berklee website www.berklee.edu for more. Hope I helped!!
